Online marketing is roaring through all your websites and networks across the world. Every big brand is launching itself on the internet to make the most of this fabulous opportunity, to be able to showcase everything they can be or do. Just like every brand or company can milk this chance to be exposed to millions of people, every individual talent has that chance too.
However the rules of the game need to be different to make the most of this platform. So here we have some ideas for the individual talent looking forward to use online marketing to their benefit.
  1. Write/blog more : Being an individual you have lesser restrictions than a company to follow when you come online. You can be witty, funny, serious or creative kind of personality online; and what you write will depict that here. So make sure you write more online on your blog specifying what you did, doing or plan to do in reference to your talent or work. Write articles, post pictures, videos or even feedback from your customers. It’s best to have less static data on your website ( that is if you have one) and more dynamic information instead.
  2. Use social media wisely: Social media networks are like mini trailers  or teasers of you work that intrigue your fans to know more about you & your work, so keep it that ways. Don’t indulge in self obsession, demeaning/criticizing comments or posts for your competitors or unnecessary information sharing, instead capitalize on a sincere artist kind of image who just wants to share what he does.
  3. Build your online image/brand: Be clear what kind of online profile you wish to have. once you decide that build content around it. Be as yourself as you can be but remember the key is credible originality!
  4. Bring people to you: make your posts interactive, tie up with friends pages and sites, try to get featured where ever possible. Link your social media sites to your blog so that your fans can read more about you on the blog and see more on your social media.
  5. Contact info: Make sure you specify clearly the services you provide and have contact email or number. However don’t be overtly accessible it kinda makes you lose your charm here!
  6. Don’t go overboard with self marketing: Don’t mention too often “call me” or “email me” messages they are a kinda turn off to your possible customers. instead be subtle with your message. better still if you have friends or family recommending you for the same. It works better. Also it wont harm you to request them to do so.
  7. Analyze & rebuild your image regularly: Along the way, you need to often revisit your online popularity growth and see what is working for you and what you need to rebuild or change to get better. Ask for honest feedback from your friends, clients, fans and colleagues and use it positively!
  8. Hire an expert to plan the way forward: Once you hit your benchmark in online popularity, use the expertise of an online marketing professional to guide you in social media marketing & search engine optimization tools like ad words and ads. Also to help you  analyze, build and grow your business and services scope online; because he would have a better knowledge of the platform and better ideas to help you reach out to more consumers.
Hope this helps you create a launch pad for yourself on the internet and take you to new heights!

Lifestyle of Corporates- Importance being organised and effective time management

In our last blog post, we talked about how the world perceives a corporate’s life to be and how different the reality is. We understood that the root cause of all the complaints is unorganized and ineffective time management.

Effective time management and living in an organized way can save us from nagging day-to-day stressors. We just can`t keep count of missed or procrastinated calls to the doctor, a friend, a relative or a business partner in a day. Many don`t have the time for family and social commitments, which often results in anxieties and relationship tensions. Getting organized in various fields of life—be it a holiday trip, household, office or management of children`s affairs—can be a sure step towards avoiding stress.

To get organized in life the following points can prove vital:

Be Flexible.
There is always more than one solution to a problem. One should be flexible enough to accept alternative solutions and experiment with them. It doesn`t help becoming anxious, depressed and staying screwed, if one`s dream formula for a problem didn`t work.

Be Realistic About Your Ability.
It does help to set realistic and achievable goals, long term or short term, in life. The targets should correspond to one`s capability to achieve them. Making unrealistic demand on oneself and others is a sure way to invite stress.

Prioritize Your Tasks.
Prioritizing the tasks on hand can help reduce the challenges in completing them. Putting time and energy to important tasks and breaking a big task into smaller steps makes things easier. When one finishes one thing at a time and is able to meet one`s responsibilities in time, the effect can be inspiring.

Do Not Baulk At Delegating Responsibility.
Delegating responsibility when it is appropriate prevents emergence of stress. When one has several tasks at hand and puzzles over how to go about them, assigning smaller tasks to others can work wonders. This can be done both in office and at home.

Learn To Be Assertive.
Practicing to be a little more assertive or learning to say `no` when required can prevent you from taking up extra tasks which can eat into your precious time and energy. We often come across a housewife at home or an executive in office putting themselves under unwelcome stress by taking more than what they can handle.

Keep A Time Planner.
Keeping a time planner ready helps going about one`s task systematically. The listings should be scheduled on a day-to-day and priority basis. It is, also, important to allot a little more time for each schedule to avoid working under strain and anxiety.

Take Planned Breaks From Work.
Whether a quick 5-minutes break or a 5-day long holiday, the breaks might offload the after-effects of stress in us. A relaxing day in spa or health resort goes a long way in refueling our stress resistant capabilities. But remember, no entertaining work calls during your vacation or personal time.

We at PlanMyDay offer an even easier solution to your problems. We are in the business of adding time to people’s life! Yes! You heard it right. You can now add time to your life. How? Planning your schedule, organizing your calendar, mails etc all take time. Imagine if you could delegate all these time consuming tasks to someone else so that all your important and urgent tasks get your undivided attention. Your time is saved and your work is done in half the time that you would normally take when you had to do it all yourself. This time saved is the time added to your life, which you can now spend doing everything that you wished to do earlier but couldn’t as you had “No Time”.

Life of a corporate- Myths and Realities

The general notion about the lifestyle of a corporate or a businessman is a relaxed life full of luxuries. Every employee complains about how easy the life of their boss is. According to them, all he has to do is sit in their air-conditioned office, attend few meetings, sign a few papers and leave. But remember, “With great power, come greater responsibilities.”

The lifestyle of a corporate is not as easy as it seems. With all the luxury, comes the stress and huge effort required to maintain this luxury.  Being a science student, I would like to put it as “luxury” is directly proportional to “mental stress”.

When the CEO of the company leaves the office, chances are one in a million that he is out there enjoying life pursuing his hobbies or enjoying leisure time, while his employees sweat out at work. There’s always just work, work and work on his mind.

Ever wondered how this huge establishment was established or how it’s still running smoothly and earning profits? Of course it’s the team effort that’s making it possible but who gives the directions? Who is it who is managing this team work? Ever wondered how much work pressure are these leaders actually under?

For a corporate, every day starts with a research on the current market, stocks and prices of various companies and establishments. In order to run a successful business, he has to know how the current market is unfolding and then plans his day accordingly. He hardly ever finds time for himself. Employee tension, meetings, negotiations, market, business issues, new plans for his business growth; keep him occupied throughout the day.

In addition to the heavy workload he is under, he also has the responsibility of his family and maintaining his social life. Life gets very difficult when trying to squeeze it all in one day, daily. It so happens that most of the times the timing of a family function and a meeting coincide. What then? It becomes so frustrating when he has to deal with both his client and his nagging wife complaining about how he has no time for them. Even the old clichéd dialogue “I am doing all this for you, darling” or getting her a diamond bracelet doesn’t seem to work its charm then. All this stress and pressure, in the end results in various health issues, crankiness and mental and physical imbalance.

We always wish we had a magic wand which we could sway and make life simple and stress free. But it’s not really a magic wand that one needs. All you need is a little help in sharing your workload and adding time to your life! Yes, you heard it right! You can now add time to your life!

Studies suggest that to live a happy stress free life, we must give emphasis to recreational activities, exercise, yoga, maintaining work-life balance, maintain a healthy social life; but we often find ourselves complaining who has time to do all of this? How can I manage work and have time to indulge in such activities?

The answer to all these questions is Effective Time Management.

Has the Nation really awakened?

The horrific “Delhi Gang Rape case” shook the nation from its roots. People were down on streets protesting against the government, against the brutality, against the crimes in India. Two slogans stood out among all the placards and banners - “Hang the rapists” and “We want justice”.

The government immediately set up five fast-track courts to try sexual offences against women.
It’s nothing new. The Indian government set up 1,734 fast-track courts in the country a decade ago. The purpose was to quickly clear pending cases. But according to some legal experts, many of these courts disbanded after the government stopped funding them.

In 2006, a fast-track court in Alwar, Rajasthan convicted the son of a police officer less than a month after he raped a German scholar. (The prisoner escaped while on parole, and has been missing ever since). Fast-tracking cases may not always be the best option anyway.

Even in this case, till the case was covered by media and people were on streets threatening the government; the police actually was going to take a week to just file the case.

Delhi, the so called “Capital” of India is now categorised under top 5 most unsafe places in the world. China has actually tagged Delhi as the “Rape Capital” of the world after a Chinese citizen was raped in Delhi; and has issued travel advisory to its citizens. Delhi is now considered at par with South Africa, where according to statistics; cases like these are reported every four minutes. Even while the trial of this horrifying case was on, gang rapes, murders, molestations continued in Delhi at the same rate. How embarrassing and disgraceful is this, your country getting popular not for its achievements but for its heinous crimes.

The crime rate in Delhi has only been increasing every year. Criminals are making a mockery of our system and what are we doing about it? Making excuses such as “women are the instigators of such heinous crimes”, “only if girls were more appropriately clothed these days”? Which age are we in? Is there any progress in our society, at all?

One of the politicians actually commented that these protests and candle march are just a way for “pretty girls” to grab people’s attention so that they get their “break”. This outraged the crowd so much that they started protesting against the politician asking him to apologise and totally forgot the whole point of why they started their protest initially. Only after the female was snuffed out, did the crowd remember their actual reason behind the whole protest. If this is how serious we are going to be about things happening around us, how can expect our government to take us seriously?

Movies are produced, where one guy removes corruption and corrupts from the country and we love it. The actor becomes our hero! Ever wondered why? It’s because each one of us has that anger inside us, against where our country, our society is heading to. We are all waiting for that “hero” to come change our society for us. But what we don’t realise is, fantasy is way different from reality!

Few people say, this is how India is. Accept it! There’s nothing we can do. That is exactly where we go wrong. It’s us and only us, people of our nation who can build or break our nation. It’s not the government, not the jurisdiction, but us. A 10-15 day public protest is not the solution. People protest and eventually move on with their lives and forget what happened 10 days back. Laws are created and forgotten. They are just printed on papers and are broken every single day.

If we really want our country to change then we should first start with ourselves. Only if we are good, law abiding citizens of India, we can make our society a safe place to live in and in turn our nation. Corrupts are corrupt because we are there to feed their corruption. If we follow the rules and stick to the laws created for us when at fault, there will be no way on earth that any one will ever be able to take advantage of our situation. Small changes are all that’s required to achieve this.

I don’t believe in building roads and museums in the name of the victims will pay them respect. I believe changing the society, eradicating such crimes is what can pay respect to the victims.
